A Wine Lovers Recipe For The Absolute Wine Tasting Party

When thinking of setting up and hosting your own wine tasting party for all your friends, most of whom one is sure are wine lovers, there's no one recipe that works. Everyone is different, as odd as that may sound. All the guests at your party are bound to have very different tastes and the night won't be right if the wine served just isn't right.

Here are five absolute essentials that you need to think about if you are thinking of setting up a wine-tasting for wine lovers:

1- The kind of wine that you are planning on serving. As the host, you can serve just about any kind of wine you want, but that doesn't mean you should. You can select just one type of wine such as white wine or red wine, or you can select a whole lot of different varieties. But if you intend to serve a lot of varieties, then begin with sparkling wine to toy with the taste buds. Begin with light wines and gradually move to full flavored ones. Starting with full bodied wines can deaden the taste buds before you get to the more delicate tasting wines.

2- The party theme. The last thing you want is some disconnect in what you serve and the motif of the party. So if you plan to serve an all French wine selection, by all means everything else about the party should be tainted with Frenchness. You should plan on serving French appetizers, French entrees and French dessert. A mix and match does not always work.

3- How you serve the wine. Room temperature is good for red wines, white ones need some hours to chill. It's all about maintaining the temperature. You can place some wine in glasses and let them be, the right amount is about one and a half ounces. Choose your glasses well.

4- The food that goes with the wine. Small, light snacks are the norm as wine lovers tend to expect light finger foods in parties.

5- How to enjoy the party. Remember, that as the host, it's your worry: the party's enjoyment is not just the taste of the wines, but the scents and sites of the whole event. Decor your place well and bring out the right kind of glasses for the wines you will be serving. It's what good wine lovers would do.

Hosting a great party filled with wine lovers is a good thing. Hosting a great wine tasting party is another. And you'd best be prepared so that everyone in the party gets to enjoy they company of wine lovers and all that great wine being shared.
